Privacy Policy
MineQuest
This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what choices you have. It is written to match what the app actually does — if the app changes, this document changes with it.
In short
- No sign-up, no password, no email address or phone number
- No contacts, photos, files, or precise location
- A display name and your times appear on public leaderboards — nothing else leaves your device by default
- Ads are served by Google AdMob, described below
- You can erase everything, on the device and on our servers, from inside the app
1. Data stored on your device
Your boards, statistics, best times, current streak, achievements, unlocked themes and settings are stored on your device using the standard Android app storage. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
2. Data stored on our servers
MineQuest uses Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, both operated by Google on our behalf, so that daily results can be ranked against other players and so your progress survives a new device. Specifically:
- An anonymous account ID — a random identifier created automatically. It is not tied to your Google account, email address or phone number, and we cannot use it to identify you
- A display name — the one you choose in the app, or a generated name if you choose none. This is public on the leaderboard, so pick a name you are happy for others to see
- Your daily challenge result — the time you took, mistakes made, hints used and when it was submitted. Only an improvement is written, so replaying never worsens your rank
- Your progress — achievements unlocked and themes owned, so a new phone picks up where the old one left off
We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or combine it with anything else. Play the game without submitting a score and nothing about your play reaches our servers.
3. Google Play Games Services
MineQuest can connect to Google Play Games for leaderboards and achievements. This is optional — the game is fully playable without it. If you sign in, Google shares your Play Games player name and player ID with the app, and the scores and achievements you earn are stored on your Play Games profile under Google’s own terms. Sign out at any time in the Play Games app; see the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Advertising — Google AdMob
MineQuest displays banner, interstitial and rewarded advertisements through Google AdMob. Interstitial ads only ever appear when you leave a finished game — never on launch and never mid-board. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process:
- Advertising ID — a resettable device identifier used to select and measure ads and limit repeats
- Approximate location from IP address — country level, to select relevant ads and apply the correct privacy rules
- Device and app information — device model, OS version, language, app version
- Ad interaction data — whether an ad was shown, viewed, clicked, or a rewarded ad completed
Google acts as an independent data controller for this information. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from partner apps. We only ever see aggregated, anonymous performance totals.
5. Your choices & consent
EEA, UK & Switzerland
Where local law requires consent before personalised advertising, a Google-certified consent message is shown before ads are requested, and your choice is respected for the life of the install. You can also opt out of personalised ads in Android settings at any time.
Advertising ID
Reset or delete it any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can also opt out of personalised ads.
Your display name
Change it any time in Settings. It is the only name attached to your scores, and it is entirely your choice what to put there.
Play Games sign-in
Optional. Decline it, or sign out later from the Play Games app, and MineQuest carries on working with its own leaderboards.
6. Permissions the app requests
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
INTERNET |
Load advertisements, submit scores and sync progress. Boards themselves are generated and played entirely offline. |
AD_ID |
The device advertising identifier, used by AdMob as described above. |
The app requests no other permissions. It does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, files, precise location, or call data.
7. Children and privacy
MineQuest is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data retention & deletion
MineQuest has a Delete my data control in Settings. It removes your leaderboard rows from our database, deletes the anonymous account itself, and wipes the local save — there is no separate request to file and nothing is kept in reserve.
Leaderboard entries you have not deleted are kept for as long as the board exists, so that historical rankings stay meaningful. Uninstalling alone removes the local copy but leaves any submitted scores in place, so use the in-app control first if you want those gone. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
9. Security
Traffic between the app and Google’s services uses encrypted connections managed by the Firebase and Google Mobile Ads SDKs. The app stores no passwords, because there are none to store. Access to the leaderboard database is restricted by security rules so that a player can only write their own row. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the revised version is published at this same URL. Material changes will also be noted in the update notes of the app.
