Privacy Policy
Sudoku Master
This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what choices you have. It is written to match what the app actually does — if the app changes, this document changes with it.
In short
- No sign-up, no password, no email address or phone number
- No contacts, photos, files, or precise location
- Puzzles are generated and solved entirely on your device
- A display name and your times appear on public leaderboards when you submit a score
- Ads and analytics are handled by Google, described below
1. Data stored on your device
Your puzzles in progress, statistics, experience, streaks, achievements, Academy progress, unlocked themes and settings are stored on your device using the standard Android app storage. Puzzle generation, solving and hints all run locally, so the game works with no connection at all. Uninstalling the app removes this data.
2. Data stored on our servers
Sudoku Master uses Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, both operated by Google on our behalf, so that finished puzzles can be ranked against other players. When a score is submitted we store:
- An anonymous account ID — a random identifier created automatically. It is not tied to your Google account, email address or phone number, and we cannot use it to identify you
- A display name — the one you choose, or a generated name if you choose none. This is public on the leaderboard, so pick a name you are happy for others to see
- The result itself — your score, the time taken, the difficulty and board type, stars earned, mistakes made, hints used, and the time of submission
Each board keeps a single row per player — your best — across the daily, weekly, monthly and all-time tables. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or combine it with anything else.
3. Analytics — Firebase
Sudoku Master uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the game is played — which difficulties get finished, where players abandon a board, which hints get used. This collects:
- App instance ID — a random identifier for the installation, used to count unique players. It is not linked to you personally and resets if you reinstall or clear app data
- Approximate location from IP address — country and region only. No precise or GPS location is ever collected
- Device and app information — device model, OS version, language, app version
- In-app events — puzzles started and completed, difficulty, time taken and hints used, so we can tell where the difficulty rating is wrong
This is used only in aggregate, to improve the difficulty curve and stability of the game. It is never sold and is not used to identify you. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
4. Advertising — Google AdMob
Sudoku Master displays banner, interstitial and rewarded advertisements through Google AdMob. Rewarded ads are always optional — you choose to watch one in exchange for a hint, extra experience or a streak save. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process:
- Advertising ID — a resettable device identifier used to select and measure ads and limit repeats
- Approximate location from IP address — country level, to select relevant ads and apply the correct privacy rules
- Device and app information — device model, OS version, language, app version
- Ad interaction data — whether an ad was shown, viewed, clicked, or a rewarded ad completed
Google acts as an independent data controller for this information. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from partner apps. We only ever see aggregated, anonymous performance totals.
5. Your choices & consent
EEA, UK & Switzerland
Where local law requires consent before personalised advertising, a Google-certified consent message is shown before ads are requested, and your choice is respected for the life of the install. You can also opt out of personalised ads in Android settings at any time.
Advertising ID
Reset or delete it any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can also opt out of personalised ads.
Your display name
Change it any time in Settings. It is the only name attached to your scores, and it is entirely your choice what to put there.
Staying off the board
The whole game — every puzzle, hint and Academy lesson — works offline. If you never submit a score, nothing about your play reaches our servers.
6. Permissions the app requests
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
INTERNET |
Load advertisements, send analytics and submit scores. Puzzles are generated and played entirely offline. |
AD_ID |
The device advertising identifier, used by AdMob as described above. |
The app requests no other permissions. It does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, files, precise location, or call data.
7. Children and privacy
Sudoku Master is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data retention & deletion
Progress on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. Leaderboard entries are kept for as long as the board exists, so that historical rankings stay meaningful.
To have your leaderboard entries and anonymous account deleted, email us at skyhopper089@gmail.com from the device in question and say so — we will remove them. Clearing the app data also resets the analytics instance ID and disconnects future data from your installation.
9. Security
Traffic between the app and Google’s services uses encrypted connections managed by the Firebase and Google Mobile Ads SDKs. The app stores no passwords, because there are none to store. Access to the leaderboard database is restricted by security rules so that a player can only write their own row. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the revised version is published at this same URL. Material changes will also be noted in the update notes of the app.
